designer + carpenter
BEDS, LEED Green Associate

Sebastian (Seb) was raised amidst an ongoing renovation project; converting an 1850’s hay barn into a family home. Tagging along with his family and professional carpenters on the project inspired a lifelong fascination with craft and design. In high school, Seb started working summers with the same builders and, after graduating, he took a full-time position gaining valuable lessons in carpentry through restoring historical structures into modern homes and commercial spaces. Raised on the coast of Maine, Seb has also long been interested by boats which lead to a brief hiatus from residential carpentry in order to work in boatyards. During this time he helped to rebuild a 133-foot-long historic wooden schooner among other projects.

With a desire to expand his skills in building and design, Seb found his way to Dalhousie University in 2019 where he studied Urban Planning before transferring into the Bachelors of Environmental Design Studies program, earning his BEDS degree in 2023. Seb was first introduced the the Peter Braithwaite Studio team through a summer FreeLab hosted by PB Studio in conjunction with the Dalhousie school or Architecture, and joined the team as a carpenter after graduation. Since then, his role has changed to include both design work and model making.

Besides work, Seb enjoys anything that gets him outside, especially hiking, skiing, and climbing.
